Multiplication tables

Table tests often consist of 48 mixed multiplication questions, which you have to attempt to answer in 3 minutes or less. Your targets for improvement include getting an “ever increasing” number correct out of 48, in the 3 minutes allowed, or trying to get all 48 correct in a shorter and shorter time.

The current school record, held by Paramjosh Theora is 48 correct in 39 seconds on 25 09 08. Prior to this Adam Caton held the record from 1999 to 2008 with 48 correct in 48 seconds.

Four in a line game

The purpose of the game is to develop and improve mental addition strategies.

Take turns to choose two different numbers from the table at the top of the page to make one of the numbers at the bottom of the page. Place one of your coloured counters on this number. To win the game players must get 4 of their coloured counters in a line, diagonally, horizontally or vertically.

If the addition is wrong the counter is removed and you forfeit your turn.

It is the job of the opposition to block you, so you can’t make 4 in a row.

You can extend the game by seeing how many sets of 4 in a row you can make.
